How to approach a DGCA theory-exam application
The precise steps depend on whether you are a new candidate, already hold a Computer Number, and which examination/session you need. Use this as a preparation checklist; the portal's current Flight Crew User Manual and session notice are the instructions to follow.
- Confirm your candidate category and whether you already have a DGCA Flight Crew Computer Number.
- Read the current notice and confirm the subject/paper, session, eligibility requirements, application window, examination mode and available seats.
- Sign in or register using the appropriate New Candidate or Old Candidate option; do not create a second Computer Number if one has already been allotted.
- Prepare scans and supporting records exactly as required by the current portal workflow and User Manual. The DigiLocker auto-generation route is available only to candidates meeting the portal's stated criteria.
- Review every field before final submission, save the acknowledgement/payment reference, and monitor the official portal for application status, admit card, venue and result notices.
Computer Number and candidate registration
A DGCA Flight Crew Computer Number is the candidate identifier used by Pariksha. The official Flight Crew FAQ says a candidate is authorised to have one Computer Number for Flight Crew examinations. If you already have one, use the relevant existing/Old Candidate path rather than starting a duplicate application.
Eligible new candidates may see an auto-generation option through DigiLocker. The live portal specifies matching nationality, education-record availability, Aadhaar/DigiLocker information and other criteria. Eligibility is determined by the official portal, not by Heading380.
CPL licence issue and eGCA
Passing theory examinations is one part of the licensing pathway; it does not by itself mean a Commercial Pilot Licence has been issued. DGCA's published guidance says licence issue depends on meeting applicable age, qualification, knowledge, experience and skill requirements under the Aircraft Rules and relevant Civil Aviation Requirements.
Use the official eGCA services and current licence-specific instructions for your individual application, supporting evidence and status. Requirements differ by application type and candidate circumstances, so do not rely on a generic checklist alone.
RTR(A), radio telephony and related exams
Radio-telephony privileges, the RTR(A) examination and DGCA pilot theory papers are not interchangeable terms. Check the latest official authority notice for the exact examination, category, booking process, requirements and issuing authority that apply to you.
Heading380 is building out its radio-telephony learning resources separately; this page does not claim to be an official RTR(A) portal or a complete RTR question bank.
Avoid outdated forms and unofficial agents
- Start from the official DGCA or Pariksha domain and follow links from the current notice board.
- Do not share passwords, OTPs, Aadhaar credentials or private licence records with a third party promising to secure an exam slot or Computer Number.
- Do not rely on an old PDF for current deadlines or document rules when a newer notice or User Manual is available.
- For an individual application status or licence record, sign in to the official service yourself or contact the published help desk.
Common questions
Where should I check the latest DGCA CPL exam date?
Check the current Flight Crew notice board on the official DGCA Pariksha portal. The annual calendar is tentative and can be amended.
Can I use a calendar date on this page as a guarantee?
No. Dates on this page are a dated summary of official publications. Confirm the session-specific notice and application window directly with DGCA before acting.
Where do I apply for a CPL licence after theory exams?
Use the applicable official DGCA/eGCA service and current licence-issue instructions. Passing theory papers alone does not mean the licence has been issued.
